The public can make a beautiful chocolate box and card to give to a sweetheart at the Bonney Lake Pierce County Library on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2 pm. This event is completely free and is sponsored by the “Friends of the Bonney Lake Library”. Kit Thompson, content writer for Pierce County Library System, explained: “Each of our libraries has a “Friends of the Library” that supports the libraries through book sales and sponsor events, which assists in buying equipment that the library normally couldn’t do. It’s a great asset to our libraries.”
Kit commented about the event: “I think it’s a fun way to your creativity, learn a new skill, and make a unique valentine gift for a loved one.” She discussed the best thing about the event, “It’s free. And while people are at the library, they have Valentine displays as well as Valentine themed books and videos that are fun to check out as well.”
According to Kit, this event is unique because it’s the only Valentine event this year, with the exception of the anti-Valentine event that will be coming up at the Summit Library on February 13, 2013.
Kit shared some interesting facts about the Bonney Lake Library: “Bonney Lake was built in 1982, renovated in 1996, and consists of 6,480 square feet. It is open 7 days a week; Monday through Thursday from 10 am 9 pm, Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm.
We have 9 libraries in the Pierce County Library System that are open 7 days a week, the rest are open 6 days a week. The smaller libraries are closed on Sundays.
The Bonney Lake Library has a beautiful mural in the children’s area, with a hand painted balloon themed mural.”
For more information about the Valentine event, please call the Bonney Lake Library at: 253 548-3308. Kit recommends anyone who’s crafty; or a parent and teen to go together and have some bonding time together.
