Are you looking for a family and Fido friendly day of fun? If you are in or near South Hill, you can be a part of this free event, sponsored by the Puyallup South Hill Rotary Club and the Pierce College Foundation, on August 24th. This fundraiser event combines a 2.4 mile dog walk, with a pet-friendly street fair of demonstrations, vendors and activities for you and your four-legged friends. Bringing Fido is not required or mandatory. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the afternoon without your pet, as well as with them.
Hounds on the Hill will be held on Saturday, August 24, from 8 am to 1 pm. Many community organizations and services will be represented, not just pet and animal related. Gary P. Larson, doctor of Veterinary Medicine and owner of South Hill Veterinary Hospital, told us that there will be a Jr. Veterinary booth “where kids can listen to the hearts of animals, apply bandages to stuffed animals and pretend to examine a pet.”
Registration for the walk is available online at www.pierce.ctc.edu/other/hounds/registration.php. Same-day registration opens at 8am on the day of the event, and is $15 – $20 per dog. Additional dogs with the same owner are $10. The 2.4 mile walk will head out at 8:30 a.m. from Pierce College Puyallup’s Health Education Building, continue around Bradley Lake Park, and wrap back at Pierce College by 10 a.m.
