Woof Woof Walk is a Pierce County Parks and Recreation sponsored Halloween themed event for the public and their dogs, held on October 19th in Spanaway Park, from 9am to 12pm. Meredith Smith, Recreation Supervisor for Pierce County Parks and Recreation, explained, “In addition to the walk we have a costume contest, complimentary goodie bags, photos and bandanas. Various vendors such as Woofers Grooming and Goodies, VCA Animal Hospitals and many more will be on hand with a ton of great products and info for you and your dog!”
Participants can come dressed in Halloween costumes (optional) and enjoy a 1.5 mile or 3 mile walk at Spanaway Park. Prizes will be awarded for the canine costume contest. Registered participants will be entered into the “ruffle drawing”.
“The Woof Woof Walk is a fun family event that gets families, and their furry friends, into the Halloween Spirit. It also helps support youth programs in Pierce County. We do a blanket and food drive, with all donations going to the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society. We not only make it a fun day for all the participants but we also help two very beneficial organizations!” Meredith commented, “The best thing about the Woof Woof walk is that people come to have fun and they bring their best friend. It’s amazing to see all the creative costumes and fun details that went into making them. Some folks plan their costume out as soon as the event is over for the following year! If you come to the event you will see Pierce County Sheriff John Munson and his dog lead the walkers around the course. They have been doing this since the program was in existence!” Meredith added, “Join us rain or shine for the walk, it’s guaranteed to be a fun filled morning!”
Participants can pre-register in person by October 16th, at the Lakewood center for $15 per dog and $5 for a second dog. T-shirts are available for $10 each, while supplies last. Same-day registration is also available on the day of the event for $20 per dog and $5 for the second dog. T-shirts will be for sale, while supplies last.
Registration form and flyer is available. Registration includes a complimentary 5X7, courtesy of Lifetouch Photography, and a complimentary bandana for dogs, courtesy of Party Pups (while supplies last).
