A fitting, seasonal production, Tacoma Musical Playhouse will be presenting “A Charlie Brown Christmas” from December 21 to 24th. The cast of 22 children features Sam Tipton as Charlie Brown and Kyra Rosen as Snoopy. The rest of the Peanuts Gang includes and Anna Martin as Lucy and Kellen O’Brien as Linus. Steve Barnett, Director of Education, and Alexandria Scamehorn are co-directing this production. This production at TMP also marks the Northwest Premier on the stage.
Many of us have memories of watching the TV special at some point in our lives. It’s a staple in many households to watch it year after year. Sue Snyder, director of marketing at the Tacoma Musical Playhouse, commented on the history of show: “The musical is a classic holiday show that began airing on CBS TV in 1965 until 2001 when it moved to ABC Network where it’s been airing ever since. The longevity makes this a great show for all ages.” The TV special (and then by VHS and DVDs) has such a longevity and broad reach, that it has touched many generations.. The show and music have stood the test of time.
