Tuesday, June 18 through July 23, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and Tuesday, July 30 through September 3, 2013 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm Bricks 4 Kidz will take place at the Chambers Creek Regional Park in the Environmental Services Building located at 9850 64th St. W. University Place, WA 98467.
Chad Harvell, Pierce County Parks and Recreation Coordinator, explained Bricks 4 Kidz: “Bricks 4 Kidz offers fun, hands-on programs where kids can learn, build, and play with LEGO® bricks. Our specially designed project kits and theme-based models provide the building blocks for the Bricks 4 Kidz approach to educational play. Bricks 4 Kidz provides an enriching atmosphere where kids can develop their curiosity and creativity, while having fun and socializing in a non-competitive atmosphere.” It is a partnership contracted between Bricks 4 Kidz and Pierce County Parks and Recreation.
The intended age groups for this event is age 5 through 13. Chad commented: “Since Bricks 4 Kidz Tacoma launched last fall, the Directors Tim and Kristi Walker have participated in several local fairs to introduce the community to their programs and began running after-school enrichment classes in 14 public and private schools throughout University Place and North Tacoma. I saw an opportunity to bring this unique brand of “edutainment” to area kids as part of the summer program. These weekly classes give parents an after-school enrichment option conveniently during after-work hours.
This is the first annual Bricks 4 Kidz summer program with Pierce County Parks & Recreation. The summer classes will run every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The first 6-week session theme which starts June 18th is Space Adventures which combines building NASA models with Star Wars activities. The second 6-week session which starts July 30th is an Amusement Park where students will learn physics while building motorized ride models. New sessions will also be continuing on into the fall.”
Talking about Bricks 4 Kidz, “Bricks 4 Kidz Tacoma started in August 2012. Bricks 4 Kidz provides an extraordinary atmosphere for students to build unique creations, play games, and have loads of fun using LEGO® bricks. Children for years have been fascinated with LEGO® bricks so they make an ideal medium with which to teach kids about the physical world around them with exciting themes such as space, inventions, animals, and sports. Bricks 4 Kidz is awesome because they are able to trigger young children’s lively imaginations and build their self-confidence.” said Chad.
Bricks 4 Kidz has over 250 unique models! Each model was designed in-house by an American architect and an Italian robotics engineer specifically for Bricks 4 Kidz. You won’t find them in any stores, so children in the Bricks 4 Kidz classes, summer camps, kid’s nights out, and birthday parties will be constructing something truly unique. Bricks 4 Kidz is one of the most owner-diverse and fastest growing franchises in the United States and Canada.
To participate in Bricks 4 Kidz, it is $72 per child, per session. The fee includes lesson plans and a customized mini figure to take home. Those that are interested can register up to one week prior to each session online, or by registering over the phone by calling: 253-798-4141, by fax, or going in person to any of the following locations: Chambers Creek Regional Park /Meridian Habitat Park and Community Center, Sprinker Recreation Center, or Lakewood Community Center (Visa/Mastercard accepted).
