This event is part of the Adult Day Trip series of Pierce County Parks and Recreation. For this trip, adults aged 50 and older to experience the Puget Sound as a passenger, no driving! Chad Harvell, recreation coordinator for Pierce County Parks and Recreation, explained, “Our adult trips are a chance for individuals to make new friends, have a good time, and explore various locations.” The 4 locations will be announced the day of trip as a surprise.
This trip is designed for barbecue fans, as we tour some of the Puget Sound’s finest barbeque spots. “We will sample pork ribs from each restaurant and vote for the best ribs, sauce, and more. The ribs are on us, and any other food you want is on you. Come with an empty stomach and a taste for BBQ! “
This is the first time Pierce County Parks and Recreation is offering a trip like this. Chad explained how this event began: “This trip was previously organized by my co-worker, who worked for another organization. She approached me with the idea, to see if we wanted to team up and try it. Our trips have been running for a year now and are always looking for new ideas on places to explore. I think this is a unique fun way to travel and see Puget Sound. There is no better way to make a person happy then to offer food, expenses paid by registering,” Chad concluded.
The Extreme Rib Challenge is on Wednesday, November 13, departing from the Lakewood Community Center located at 9112 Lakewood Dr. SW Lakewood, WA 98499. The registration deadline is November 4. $39 per person. Payments can be made by phone, in person, or online at www.piercecountywa.org/parks
