Are you looking for some activity to kick off your New Year’s resolutions? How about the No Sun Fun Run? It’s a 5K and 1 mile fun run that will be held on Saturday, January 11, 10am, at the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail in Puyallup. Registration and check in begins at 7:30 am at the Heritage Recreation Center located at 9010 128th Street East in South Hill (next to Rogers High School). The event will take place regardless of weather, and just like the Scouting motto goes “there is no such thing as bad weather…only bad clothes!”
The course is very flat and stroller friendly. Attendees can choose either the timed 5k race or a one mile fun run. The run and the raffle prize giveaway are typically completed by 11:30 am.
The sponsors for the No Sun Fun Run will have sponsors onsite with vendor booths, however most of the activities will take place after the conclusion of the race. Runners will be able to enjoy food from Costco, Auburn Dairy (Yami and Zoi Yogurt), and Honest Tea. There will also be an auction for two pairs of running shoes from South Sound Running, among other running items.
Andrea Clay, recreation supervisor for Pierce County Park and Recreation, commented: “This run is great for the beginning runner as well as seasoned runner. The course is flat and scenic. The Nathan Chapman Trail is a great place to run! Why not start off your New Year’s resolution with a great 5K run. This is the 6th year of the run. It started as a project for one of our interns and has turned into one of our departments two signature fun runs!”
