Gallucci’s Catering is now exclusive to the Liberty Theater in Puyallup as well as the Olson Mansion in Maple Valley. Ronald Gallucci, owner of Gallucci’s catering explained the history of his business, “In April 10, 2012 Gallucci’s Catering and the Liberty Theater partnered up. We started Gallucci’s Catering in 1986. It originally started as a deli and became a couple delis, then a restaurant, and then a catering company. In 1991, we went strictly catering and got rid of the retail stuff and we bought in heavily to corporate and wedding catering. Between 1991 and now, we have done several things; we’ve managed the concessions at Broadway Center, we also operated NW Kinetics, a drug research facility, and did all their food service. They needed breakfast, lunch, and dinner and we did this for 13 years. We catered to the Museum of Glass for 11 years, we were one of the original caters, over the last 5 years we were their exclusive cater and concession operators up until Jan. 1, 2012.”
Anne Gallucci Dunn, entertainment director for the Liberty Theater, expressed, “The Liberty Theater is known for proms, weddings, and we do catering, too (Gallucci’s Catering). We’re trying to get the Liberty Theater in rebirth, so we met with Act 1 in Sumner to do “The Darkness Beckons” play, which is our Halloween event on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 7 pm at the Liberty Theater. “The Darkness Beckons” is a dark and fairytale world, where the creatures of the earth and water vie for the soul of a small child who has willfully entered the forbidden forest. A sumptuous dinner and dessert will be included with the play, which is catered by Gallucci’s Catering, and an open no-host bar. The play is considered PG-13 and fairy tale costumes are encouraged. Tickets are now available for purchase by visiting: http://atheatrepro.com/tickets.”
Anne discussed more uses of the Liberty Theater, “We also do: concerts, benefits, conferences, private/public movie showings, parties, auction, Super Bowl viewing parties, comedy night, salsa dancing instructors taught people how to dance and the DJ played the music.” “The room morphs to whatever we want. The whole floor upstairs is where we keep décor and costumes.” Ron added.
The Liberty Theater will continue to keep up with its three annual events: Mother’s Day Brunch, Super Bowl Party, and Oscar parties. Gallucci’s Catering will be available for the communities’ offsite and onsite catering events.
The Liberty Theater has been in existence since 1924 and was built by Dominic Constanti. Mike Barovic purchased the Liberty Theater in 1939 and the Barovic family still owns it.
Anne shared what she thought of the Liberty Theater: “I think the Liberty Theater is a unique venue that represents a part of history. In its day, it was the only venue for entertainment.” Anne discussed the best thing about the Liberty Theater, “It represents the ultimate venue for entertainment and face to face social interaction. I think that that is great for the Puyallup community.”
Anne mentioned what many people may not know about the Liberty Theater, “We have transitioned the theater into the modern concept of dining and full bar service along with traditional live and film entertainment.” Anne shared how the Liberty Theater was unique compared to other theaters, “The Liberty Theater is an example of an elegant and well preserved theater of past days.”
